This is the Platt Street Bridge in Tampa which spans the Hillsborough River. According the Bridgehunter.com (who knew there was such a thing), its a “bascule” bridge – also known as a draw bridge.  It was built in 1926 by Lakeside Bridge & Steel Co., Strauss Bascule Bridge Co. of Chicago, Illinois, and Tibbets, Pleasant, Green & Beckman. The length of largest span is 115.2 ft. The total length is 421.0 ft. Its 39.7 ft wide and its vertical clearance above deck is 327.8 ft.

Personally, I think its very pretty – at least in the twilight with colored lights on it, and I like the reflections in the water.

  1. The colors are amazing. I’ll bet it’s not nearly as spectacular in the daytime. Nice capture!
